Where Healthcare Meets the Climate Crisis
CCPHASE advances nursing science and health research at the frontline of environmental change — because planetary health is human health.
OUR BEGINNING
What began as a question — how does a warming planet shape the health of its people? — grew into a research cluster with a clear mission. CCPHASE was born from the conviction that nursing science has a critical role to play in the global climate response, and that role has never been more urgent.
"Planetary health is not a specialty — it is the foundation upon which all modern care must be built. And nursing science is uniquely positioned to lead that transformation, from the bedside to the policy table."
Since its inception, CCPHASE has led critical inquiries into how ecological shifts impact nursing practice, patient outcomes, and the resilience of health systems across the Indonesian archipelago.
Our Vision
To become a center of excellence in research advancing climate-resilient nursing and health for environmental and health justice.
Our Mission
01
Producing rigorous, multidisciplinary research that deepens our understanding of how climate change shapes health outcomes across populations, systems, and environments.
02
Improving planetary health literacy among healthcare workers and communities through evidence-based education, professional training, and strategic knowledge dissemination.
03
Promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible innovations in nursing education and clinical practice — building a generation of climate-literate health professionals.
04
Advocating for health policies that embed climate resilience into national healthcare systems, nursing standards, and institutional frameworks across Indonesia.
05
Equipping communities with the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to mitigate and adapt to climate-driven health risks — and to build long-term resilience from the ground up.

Focus Areas
Driving impactful research and actionable solutions across six critical domains of planetary health and sustainable care.
Examines the direct and indirect effects of climate change on human health, especially among vulnerable populations.
Grounded in the principles of planetary health, this focus area investigates the interdependence between human health and the health of natural systems.
Nurse as the frontline responders and agents of change, CC PHASE promotes sustainable nursing practices aim to reducing environmental footprints while improving quality of nursing care.
Emphasizes participatory approaches, capacity building, and the integration of local knowledge and cultural perspectives to support behavioral change strategies that empower communities to adapt to the health impacts of climate change.
Integrates a strong GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion) framework to ensure that climate change-related health interventions are inclusive and equitable for all people.
Explores strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through community-based behavioral change, while simultaneously minimizing the climate change-related health risks.
